Fifty Wessex Artists explores the work of fifty professional painters. Each artist’s work is represented by a lavish full-page colour reproduction of a painting and an illuminating essay, both of which are complemented by photographer Richard Sercombe’s perceptive studio portraits.
The mix ranges from eminent well-known names to talented emerging newcomers. Fiona Robinson spent a year travelling the length and breadth of the West Country, visiting artists in their studios and talking to them about their work. The resulting essays get to the core of each artist’s ideas and driving forces. This book situates these painters within the raw context of their studio practice whilst allowing their voices to be clearly heard.
With text by Fiona Robinson and Portrait Photography by Richard Sercombe.
Fifty Wessex Artists was published by Evolver Books on the 20 November 2006.
